Our Process: Community Workshops

At ESKW/Architects, we don’t just design for communities—we design with them. Our workshop with Providence House residents—women with incarceration and homelessness experience — brought real voices to the table.

Why it matters:

+ Participatory design rewards us with more innovative, context-sensitive solutions—users often surface insights we could never predict.

+ Engaging end users fosters ownership and buy‑in—essential for spaces meant to support resilience and healing.

+ It helps us identify potential pitfalls early, saving time and resources while ensuring designs truly respond to what people need.

For communities from underserved backgrounds, whose voices are too often unheard, this is more than good design—it’s an act of trust, dignity, and equity.
