Introducing Lexington Avenue Shelter

In 2021, Providence House (PH) partnered with ESKW/Architects to imagine a new way forward for their mission of providing trauma-informed, gender-responsive housing and services for women and families. What began as a feasibility study has grown into a thoughtful new project that we’re proud to share: Lexington Avenue Shelter.

The new six-story, 47,000 SF women’s shelter in Bed-Stuy consolidates three lots into a single building with 85 private bedrooms and PH’s administrative headquarters. With a warm red brick façade, soft curves, and mid-century-inspired details, Lexington Avenue Shelter conveys warmth, dignity and connection—values at the heart of Providence House’s work.
