Kerry Interviewed on Sisto Says Podcast

Associate Kerry Zucker, AIA, was interviewed by Sisto Martello, President of Design 2147, host of the Sisto Says podcast, and our code consultant and expediter for PS108X and PS508Q. They discussed ESKW/Architects’ history with the NYC School Construction Authority (SCA).

Our SCA journey began when one of our long-time affordable housing clients, connected us to the New Settlement Community Campus. That project revealed how similar SCA work is to mission-driven housing: SCA involves working with a very large team who oversee over 1,400 schools across the nation’s largest school district, and our housing work relies on compliance with extensive agency requirements while providing housing that is dignified and maintainable for our clients.

Working within the SCA’s standards isn’t limiting; it is inspiring. The SCA applies the same high bar for design quality and sustainability to every school in every neighborhood across NYC, which builds equity into the process. That commitment motivates ESKW/A to design learning environments that truly support all public school students.
